Prosecution is not about political decisions, it is about upholding the rule of law and the constitution of the State of Washington.
Principled prosecution means leading with integrity and common sense, applying the law to make the right decision, for the right reasons, every time, in every case.
Proven results: Dan has over twenty years of success seeking justice in Whitman County. This includes keeping the community safe from the most violent criminals, sexual predators and repeat offenders.
Proven results also means looking for alternative sentences or pathways for offenders who have mental health issues and substance use disorders but don’t pose a significant danger to the community. Dan has helped to establish and participate in two therapeutic courts in Whitman County that create those pathways.

I have proudly served as a lawyer for Whitman County for over two decades, and as the Chief Deputy Prosecutor for almost ten years.
Every day I work closely with victims of crime to give them a voice in our criminal justice system. I have successfully tried cases to conviction for murder and attempted murder. I have also brought justice for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. As Prosecutor for Whitman County, I will continue to make these cases a priority; there is no place in our community for these crimes.
Crime doesn’t stop at the state or county lines. I have worked closely with the Adams, Asotin, and Latah County Prosecutor’s offices to hold offenders accountable for committing crimes across the Palouse.
I care deeply about Whitman County. My family and I live here and my children have grown up in this beautiful area. We enjoy taking part in the rural festivals and other county activities as well as engaging in all that Pullman and Washington State University offer. Running for Prosecutor is not a stepping-stone for me. I have served my entire professional career in the prosecutor’s office and I am dedicated to building upon the excellent foundation that is already in place.
As the elected Prosecutor I understand the need to work with other community partners. I have a strong relationship with local law enforcement, victim advocacy groups like Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse, CPS, local hospitals and mental health providers.
The prosecutor’s office is also the legal advisor to the Board of County Commissioners, other elected officials and department heads of Whitman County. As the Chief deputy Prosecutor, my duties have included providing this legal counsel and I have strong working relationships with departments and elected officials throughout the county. I have worked closely with both of the Whitman County Courts to help ensure that information is properly communicated between departments.
Most importantly, I am honored to be a part of the team of dedicated professionals working at the prosecutor’s office who care deeply about supporting victims and seeking justice in Whitman county. I look forward to leading these incredible individuals as we continue to build upon the great work that is already being done.
I have been involved in education and outreach throughout Whitman County and Washington State. I have provided training to law enforcement regarding changes in the law and nuanced areas of the law that require special attention. I have also been an instructor for the Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorney’s week-long trial training for new deputy prosecutors. As the chair of the Criminal Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association, I work with a group of prosecutors and defense attorneys to provide continuing legal education for criminal attorneys across Washington State. I am also serving as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Idaho College of Law teaching Criminal Procedure for the Spring 2026 semester.
I am the Vice-President of the Kiwanis Club of Colfax and I also served on the Neill Public Library Board of Trustees from 2013-2022. I will continue to look for ways to contribute to our community outside of the prosecutor’s office.
